Loving thy Neighbour

I.

Human predicament
filling the air-
a stench foul as fish.

How do you love
your neighbour,
tend with time, good and care,

That mendacious being,
so rife with lie?

II.

One day, the boys
came bright eyed
to where you lived.

They carried a bottle,
with some spirit,
and called your name out.

You stood at the door,
your lips cracked into a kiss.

III.

The other night?
I saw you look
at the moon.

Your eyes were bright
and you sang joy.
Till your phone rang.

An indulgent girl
had called to ask for shelter.

IV.

When on the mountain,
with the stick and the lambs
and the yellow halo

Behind your hair,
At an unchronicled time,
your hand spent moments

Pulling the holy skin
of your scrotum.
